Favorites
For those of you who are new to this site and are feeling a little overwhelmed, I thought I’d start a list of my absolute favorite recipes – those that I recommend you try first. And BTW, let me know what your favorites are!!
This list will probably change over time as I post more recipes and discover new favorites! First, I thought it only appropriate to add a random photo of our kiddos (this too is subject to change).
Hello Natasha, I love your recipes. My favorite is your chicken pot pie. I have a question do you have any recipes for people who have a fatty liver? I’m trying to find a good one for a dinner. I’m trying to make something for the people who need to eat a low fat or fat free.
Hi Korrin! I’m glad that you are loving my recipes. I do not have a specific category for that. I have some vegetarian or keto recipes but nothing specific to meet those dietary needs. You can click on the “recipes” option at the top of the page to see the categories and look through them if you’d like. Many of my recipes can also be modified. If I’ve tested a substitute, I’ll leave a note of it throughout the blog post so I recommend reading through the whole post of the recipe before making it. Also, my readers will share their feedback in the comment section if they’ve tested substitutions so you could check there as well. I hope that helps.

Your salmon patties are tremendous. I am not a fan of fresh salmon, only when my dad use to catch it and stuff it and cook it on the barbecue would I eat it…yet I love most other fish.
I do however love canned wild salmon and made your recipe and it was great.
We are having them again this weekend.
Just joined your group. Looking forward to making more of your recipes.
I’m so happy you found our blog and the salmon recipe! Thank you for sharing this with me Becky!
Hi ,I would like to know if I can use raw honey on the baklava
Hi Lucinda, I use raw honey for everything, so yes that would be ok.
Hi Natasha,
I discovered your website/blog after a Facebook friend posted one of your food videos (it was a rice/beef slow cooker recipe). I myself absolutely abhor cooking (I love vegetable gardening) but your recipes look divine! I hardly ever cook and have always vowed that I will only ever marry (ever) if my husband does all the cooking. Thank you for sharing your talent and your Christ centered testimony. BTW: I recognized some of your mom’s recipes as closely resembling my own mother’s Romanian recipes: Meatball soup, Poppy Seed Roll. In Romanian they are called respectively “Ciorba de perisoare” and “Cozonac”. Anyway, thank you for sharing your talent! If you one day publish a cook book, I will buy it…as a gift for my future (if it should ever, by God’s miracle, happen) husband.
Thank you and God bless you,
Maria Popovici
Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback and kind words Maria! Yes we definitely have big plans for the future involving books etc. God bless you! 🙂
Dear Natasha,
I absolutely love watching your videos and look forward to every recipe you share with us. You are simply the best.
Be well.
You are so nice! & hey, nice name! 😉
Hi Natasha
Ive just joined your site as I found your Avocado Tuna Salad receipe… and OMG I love it soooooo much!! I tend to cut down the portion for just me to once tin of tuna, one avocado etc even that lasts me two meals!
Have you ever used frozen Avocado? Is it any good for salads or does it go to mush?
Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I haven’t tested that with frozen avocados. If you experiment, let me know how you liked the recipe
I would love to see a specifically Ukrainian recipe set. My wife is Ukrainian, but I want to keep this site a secret (for awhile) and surprise her with some authentic Ukrainian meals. She’s told me about some of her mother’s & grandmother’s recipes, etc. So, it would be great if you did that. If you and I missed it or can’t find it forgive me.
Hi Ralph, I would start here This link will take you to recipes that are staples in the Ukrainian household. How sweet of you to surprise her!
My comment is a general one. I bought an air-fryer. Many of your recipes could be cooked in it. The problem with converting to this method is guesswork i.e. no two recipes for the same dish use the same time/temp and prep. It would be fantastic if someone with your tastes and abilities would tackle this — it is popular enough to deserve a new area of recipes. If you used specific preps people would flock to your webpage just for air-frying techniques. The underlying meaning here is “help!”.
Thank you for the tip!! I will keep that in mind 🙂
The Banana Bread is fabulous!!! When using a 1.5 loaf pan are there any adjustments to the recipe? I am new to contacting you so didn’t see an answer on the contact area and now trying this.spot. Thank you.
Welcome to our blog, Daine! This recipe should work just fine in the 1.5 loaf pan. If you have to much we’ve had readers tell us they put them muffin tins as well, just baked for less time.
hi im new to your site, do you do any diabetic recipes please
Hi Sheryl, we do have quite a few recipes that are diabetic friendly but do not have a category for diabetic recipes at this time. All of our dietary and other categories can be found on our recipes index page (tab at the top of our website).
Hi Natasha, love your site and use it frequently. I just got an instapot and was wondering if you have any recipes for instapot cooking and if so could you post some. Thank you so much.
I’m happy to hear how much you’re enjoying the recipes! I just recently got an IP myself and have shared one recipe (click here to view it), but do expect more IP recipes! Thanks for following Doreen!
Hi Natasha.Do you have a good brownie recipe?

Hello Natasha:0 I found your site and decided to make the wreath bread tonight, to my amazement, it came out very nice, so crunchy on the outside, tender inside. It looks so very beautiful also. Thank you for the recipe.
Jeff Franks :))
Hi Jeff! I am so happy you loved the recipe! I hope you had a beautiful Christmas and I wish you a very Happy New Year! 🙂
Hello Natasha
Could you send me your recipe for Zephrs. Also what would be the shelf life using fresh fruit and it it possible to double up the recipe to make a double batch.
Thank you so much
Kind regards
Sandra
Hi Sandra, here is our recipe for zephyr. I haven’t tried doubling it but I would probably make the batch two separate times so it doesn’t overwhelm the mixer and will still adequately whip up.
Natasha, I think I had seen a recipe for pirog dough but can’t find it for some reason.
Hi Mila, here is our poppy seed roll pirog. Enjoy!

Hi! Brand new to your site and I am very excited to make some of your recipes!!! I’m not very comfortable in the kitchen but these recipes feel manageable to me! One question about the creamy sweet potato coconut soup: would it be ok to omit the bacon or would I need to substitute it for something else?
Hi Kim, we sometimes make the soup without bacon and it still works well 🙂
Love love love your creamy cauliflower potato soup with shrimp. But honestly love everything that has shrimp in it, however this soup is so far my favorite dish to make and eat of course. Thank you!
Alina, you are very welcome 😁. Looks like you have a new favorite soup on the menu.
I really like your recipes! They are very good, easy to make and the ingredients are easy to find here. 10/10 🙂

Thank you so much for that awesome feedback!
Hey, Natasha! Your recipes are awesome!(: Just wanted to ask if you’ve heard of a cake called Smetannik? It’s delicious. Maybe you’d have a recipe for it?
I have heard of it but I don’t have a recipe for it yet. I will put it on my to-do list 🙂 Thank you for the suggestion and the compliment!
Have you tried peanut butter noodles? It may sound a little bit weird, but It’s really good!
I haven’t tried that! Is it a homemade recipe or do you buy them somewhere?
It’s a homemade recipe.
Thank you for sharing your recipes. I married a Ukrainian 5 1/2 years ago. My family is American, and we have never had a foreigner come into our family until my husband. Needless to say, I don’t know how to cook like his mama. Bless his heart, I know he misses the food so much. I already tried one dish without telling him it was your Ukrainian recipe, he went on and on how he liked dinner so much. I finally told him it was because it was Ukrainian. He was so happy I was trying to make dishes he likes. Thank you again for sharing your families culture.
That is such a sweet story. I’m all smiles reading it :). Thank you for sharing that withe me!
Natashenka, I just found your blog, wonderful, thank you!
Do you have a good recipe of kiev cutlet. We were in Moscow last year, stayed in the Savoy hotel, I ordered one for my daughter and it was out of the world!
I am Russian Jew( from St. Petersburg) who lives in NYC with my husband( from Moscow )and our dauther Anna ( born here). We have been in the States for more than 20 years and my husband loves Russian cousine ( healthier version), but I ve lost most of the recipes
Best, Stella
Is this what you are looking for? https://natashaskitchen.com/2010/01/06/chicken-kiev-recipe/ 🙂
Hi Natasha,
thanks for giving us a place to start. I was given your cupcake frosting recipe by a friend and couldn’t help but click around some! I can’t wait to try some of your other recipes!
I do have a question though. My boyfriend and I are doing dates-around-the world this year…Once a month we pick a country and either go to a restaurant or I try to make a traditional dish…after finding your blog, I’m tempted to try something Ukranian or Russian. Do you have any recommendations of what we should try? Perhaps a main dish and a dessert. Easier is better, but any recommendation is welcome.
Thanks!
What an awesome and fun thing to do; dates around the world! I love it. Maybe my hubby and I should do the same 😉 You might try these: https://natashaskitchen.com/2013/08/21/cucumber-and-tomato-salad-recipe/, https://natashaskitchen.com/2014/12/04/apple-sharlotka-recipe-russian-apple-cake/ or https://natashaskitchen.com/2010/01/11/russian-tea-cakes-recipe/

Please post recipe for vareniki with sour cherries.
I have a recipe for that posted with sweet cherries. You probably will need a little more sugar on the inside if you use sour cherries.
Hi Natasha, I wanted to request if you could give the recipe for artichoke dip?
I have 3 artichoke dips here. My favorite is this one.
Want to print a recipe, can you tell me how I can do that. Keep seeing things that look good but can’t get recipes.
HI Patricia. At the bottom of every recipe, there is a print friendly recipe that is outlined in a dashed line. Right beneath the small picture on the right, there is a “print” button. 🙂
Welcome to the site Patricia :). The best way to print the recipe, is to scroll down just below the post where you will find print friendly instructions with a print button. Let me know if that helps.
dilicius and sweet
Thank you for a wonderful webb-site . Yesterday I tryed your Bortschsoup , heavenly! 🙂

do you by any chance have a recipe for a breakfast i dont know what its called but its like egg creamcheese bread and raspberries?
I don’t think so. Have you checked out my breakfast page? https://natashaskitchen.com/breakfast/
Natasha, your dinner tab is not loading today. I am trying to make the braised potatoes with pork, its playing tricks on me.
I’m sorry you’re having trouble. We were having trouble with the site note loading properly in Safari and Internet Explorer but that should be resolved now. Which browser are you using? Try clearing your browsing history and hitting refresh. If you are still having trouble, please let me know (since we’re hoping the problem is fixed but definitely want to know if it’s not). Thanks so much! 🙂 Here is a direct link to the potatoes: https://natashaskitchen.com/2013/01/30/braised-potatoes-with-pork/
Can you post a recipe for momaliga??
I’ve never heard of Momaliga. What is it exactly? Maybe we call it something different?
ciao Natasha i love ur site and admire ur work
god bless ur family
i have a question and is really really important i live in Switzerland and i have a russian family who are asking me to prepare them a russian post christmas meal
i went through internet for a month now but everything seem so random and dishes are mainly from all east europe and not truly russian can you pls help me with this
thx a million
I’m not sure what a Russian post Christmas meal is. I’m familiar with traditional Russian Christmas dishes, but not post-Christmas. I do have tons of traditional Russian dishes. Can you be more specific?
is the diner after the fasting the feast after the dishes that contains meat
thx
I’m not sure which recipe you’re referring to, but I can ask around. Sorry, I can’t be more helpful.
my anniversary is coming up and i want to cook a fantasic meal but im not a good cook. do you know any simple but awsome meals.
For a one-pot type of meal, this has been really popular although it’s not the simplest: https://natashaskitchen.com/2014/06/26/creamy-chicken-and-rice-recipe-a-one-pot-meal/. Are you looking for pasta, rice, potatoes??
I have enjoyed reading all of the different dishes and I am excited to try some one my own.
I hope you love everything you try! 🙂
Hi, i love your website and the recipes are just amazing!!!
for my school cooking class i have to have a 5 Dish Dinner Party made for my family. i have to make an appetizer, side dish, main dish, soup/salad and a dessert. i was wondering of you could give me some ideas on what i can make that will be easy, inexpensive and delicious. Thank you.
Oh, tough question! 🙂 Does it have to be Russian/Ukrainian food or anything?
It can be anything. but i would prefer Ukranian/Russian foods becauase the meal is for my family and they would like some of their home town foods.
For an appetizer: smoked salmon tea sandwiches, Broccoli Grape Salad, Chicken mushroom casserole for meat and Garlic Chive Potatoes. For dessert, it really depends on how much time you have to make it! 🙂 It’s really hard to make a list with over 400 recipes here 🙂
Thank you so much!! i will try them and tell you how my family and my teacher likes it 🙂
My son is studying Russia for International Day at his school this year. We have to provide a traditional Russian dish for the classroom buffet. Could you please recommend some recipes that are easy to do in large batches and not too expensive to make a lot of? I found a lemon cake on wikipedia called “Lymonnyk” but there is no recipe here.
Thank you!
You’re right! I don’t have a lymonnyk recipe yet, but it sounds very interesting! Have you tried any of the canapes?
hi natasha,
i love your recipes
best,
marina
Thank you Marina, welcome to the site :).

Yes! That sounds delicious! You can also email it to me if you like ;): natashaskitchen.com
Hi! Our family is going to be hosting a Ukrainian orphan for a month this Christmas. Am I safe in assuming that everything on your site is Russian or Ukrainian in origin or would at least be familiar to her? I’d like to make sure she gets some familiar food while she’s here!! Any suggestions would be great!!!
About 60% if them are. Plov is a staple and kind of a comfort food. Let me know if you have questions about specific recipes.
Слава Богу за тебя Наташенька! 🙂
I am so thankful to God I came upon your website! I thought I could never make a cake – and now after 2 years of marriage 😉 I made 2 of your delicious cakes in 1 week! 😉 may God continue to bless you and work through you in many ways!

Hi Natasha,
I just found your blog, and I really like it. I also showed it to my dad who is fan of cooking (we both are) and he really like your recepies too. The thing is that I had to translate them for him. Would you ever consider making some recepies in Russian?
Welcome to my blog Lily. I don’t see myself making recipes in Russian. If you use Internet Explorer, right click anywhere on the text and select “Translate with Bing”, pick Russian and the entire page will be translated without you doing any of the work. Let me know if you have any more questions 🙂
Hi,
My fav has to be Olivye. But originally I wanted to say Grenky (spelling) or Russian Cherry/Apple Pancakes. Yum.Sadly I can’t eat those anymore. That is why I wrote Olivye.Smiles.
I also wanted to mention that I make tuna salad once or twice a month. I tried searching your blog but could not find a tuna salad recipe. I make tuna salad with 2 cans of tuna, 1 green onion, 2 eggs, and Vegenaise. Sometimes I make it without the onion. Do you have a tuna salad recipe? Thanks for reading. Have a good day.
best,

Natasha
I love your site and I have to tell you I love to see you giving God glory. Good for you and good for us Christians to have you. I would love to see an authentic Ukraine Borsch recipe. I have tried a few but cannot get it to taste like it should taste. Or maybe it just tasted better when I was in Ukraine? Thank you and good luck with your nursing. I just started my masters program in business, a lot of work.
Thank you Sue – your words are very encouraging! I posted a Ukrainian Borsch/ Russian Borsche (borsch is borsch 🙂 I’m planning to post something a little easier based on tips some of my readers have posted in the comments, but I still have to develop that recipe. Here’s a link to the recipe for: Borscht. It’s the recipe I make at home and we love it!! It’s hearty and a deep red color – loads of flavor. Hope you enjoy it! God bless you in your masters program. I have a nice list of scriptures on my school notebook that really help me when I’m feeling overwhelmed: Prov 3:5-6, Deut 31:6, Is 41:10, Is 41:13, 2 Tim 41:13, Heb 13:5-6.
love your kitchen!!! thanks for the ideas!!!
yeah sure, maybe mention the traditional fruits used and then go for frozen berries? thanks!
i cant wait to see it! and try it hehe
hey natasha!
i was wondering if you could post a recipe on how to
do fruit compote. i perfer this to juice and thought you might know how to do it?
thanks
I will post it. I just have to think of what fruit to use since berries and plums aren’t really in season anymore. Maybe I’ll try frozen berries?
i used to buy cranberry and raspberry frozen juice from winco which we couldnt get enough of it was so yummy. then once we were out at home and wanted some but remebered we had frozen cranberries and raspberries at home so made compot added sugar and it was very good, now our new fav. we only make that kind lol we stock up on cranberries and freeze them around christmas and new yrs thats the only time they have them at stores, so give it a try.
That does sound good. I love cranberry juice! Never thought about making my own! So raw cranberries + frozen raspberries + sugar would work well? About how much of each for a soup pot of compot?
well for a large pot (8qt) i use half the bag of cranberry which is 6 0z and frozen raspberry about a handfull, dont need much and about 1 1/2 – 2 cups max. sugar but that is up to everyone cus some like it sweet some not too sweet, but 1 would do 1.5 cups and see how it is to ur taste. also remeber that when compot cools down it becomes more sweet. i just made some today and i didnt have frozen raspberries but i used my rasberry mixed with sugar varenie tastes great as well, just added a little less sugar cus raspberry was already mixed with sugar and i only did 3 tbs of raspberry varenie and u can really taste the raspberry already. cook till color turns to red and cranberries will be popping so be careful so they done burn u. let it cool, drain into a pitcher from all the berries, enjoy! i reserve the berries and eat them lol i never let my cranberries go to waste gotta get all the vitamins i can 🙂
Luda, thank you so much. I’ll definitely have to try this next time I see cranberries at the store.
