Tropical Mango Pineapple Smoothie Recipe

Start your day with this vitamin-rich, lip-smacking tropical mango pineapple smoothie for a quick breakfast or an afternoon snack.

This Mango Pineapple Smoothie  recipe was inspired by Maui where mangos and pineapples grow wild and free (and where we’ve been hanging out for the past week). Even the pineapples in the Maui Costco are phenomenal. You could probably eat half of one and not have that burning tongue feeling. They’re locally grown and so incredibly sweet!

We’ve been talking about taking a vacation for a loooong time. Between work, blogging, ministry, being a Mama and wife, and everything else in between,… I was starting to feel run down. I needed a vacation; we all did! The weather was beautiful all week long so we all came back nicely tanned.

Too bad it was only 6 days. It should have been more like 16 (but I’d like to think you all would miss me ;)). I hope you’ve been following along on Instagram and Facebook to see the happenings of our vacation (Did you like the whale jump video?). Thanks for being patient with me as I took forever sometimes to answer questions, I’m so sorry I was at the beach and the laptop didn’t follow me there ;). Love you all and I hope you enjoy this little bit of Maui.

Ingredients for the Mango Pineapple Smoothie:

1 cup water or almond milk (original/unsweetened)
1 small banana or 1/2 of a large one
2 clementines or 1 orange, peeled
1 medium ripe mango (2 cups), peeled
1 1/4 cups frozen pineapple chunks
1 Tbsp flax seeds

Notes: You could also use fresh pineapple and frozen mango, or fresh mango & pineapple with frozen banana. You want at least one fruit to be frozen.

This still rocks in late 2018!

    Thanks for sharing.

I wanted to use some orange juice so I substituted the orange and water with orange juice and a splash of water. Great taste!

Sometimes I feel that juice and smoothies can be too sweet or too concentrated in their flavour so I add water or ice cubes. It works great for this particular smoothie too.

I like the fact that you used whole oranges instead of juice! I never by orange juice but I always buy a box of oranges from Costco that I use in my smoothies instead of juice! I feel that juice negates some of the purpose and health benefits of making a smoothie in the first place.

I completely agree and the pulp adds some fiber, so it’s a much healthier smoothie! Thanks Chelley! 🙂

Absolutely loved it! My sister suggested to add half of the banana or to omit it. Will try that next time, but I loved the pulp from pineapple and the flavor is so yummy!

We stayed in Kihei. I’d recommend you check out the VRBO site to see if you can rent something directly from someone. 🙂 Kihei is nice because it doesn’t get as much rain as other parts of the island. I thought of posting pictures but a vacation review; well, we didn’t really explore much on this trip. We beach bummed daily and just wanted to rest. But we really liked the Coconuts fish cafe (fish tacos!), and the sunrise whale watch through pacific whale foundation. The aquarium is also nice (look for a Visa discount online). 🙂

We’ve been to Maui too many times to count, west Maui is great. Lahaina, and kaanapali has beautiful weather, not as windy, and lots of things to do. The beaches are really nice in that area as well, especially Napili and Kapalua. Kapalua is beautiful but just a bit cooler and has a sprinkle in the night usually. Kihei is nice because it’s closer to the activities such as whale watching and the Maui ocean center, and it’s more dry.

Kihei does seem to be good location wise, but seriously the entire island is incredibly breathtaking! Do you have a property up there or how do you usually locate a place to stay in Maui?

Kids do love the beach and a boogy board is a must (can be purchased there). There are areas on the beaches where it’s fun to have a little net to catch tiny fish. Walmart in Maui has little hand held nets and they also have little buckets that sit in the water to keep the water cool that you can collect fish in.

I enjoyed the pics you posted, just should have posted more 🙂 We have never been to Maui, only Oahu. On our list of places to visit 🙂

When we were in Oahu we couldn’t find locally grown pineapples… That was weird because half of Oahu is covered in pineapple farms.

Oh bummer about the mango allergy :(. I just add 1 cup water usually, but almond milk works well too. It’s definitely nice to get away and re-group. What part of Maui do you love most? We stayed in the Kihei area.

We usually stay more on the west maui side, kaanapali or kapalua. The beaches are so nice up there.

Wow, Natasha, I hope you had lots of fun in Maui. It is such a nice contrast: from snow right into summer.

My husband ( his name is Vadim too;) and I were married in March, and went to Maui for our honeymoon. We had snow here in WA back then; at the end of March!

Beautiful whale jump shot and photos of sunset.
