Our favorite Green Smoothie Recipe. It's a green power smoothie is what it is! @natashaskitchen

My husband, Vadim (the smoothie master) created this green smoothie recipe. It’s a green power smoothie is what it is! I tried his creation and asked him to write down exactly what went into these. It was love at first sip…

I’m so happy that he’s crazy about smoothies – he makes them almost daily and of course I get one too! This recipe is simple, seriously healthy and sooo refreshing!

1. Place everything in a blender in the order listed, starting with the liquid and ending with the frozen fruit and chia seeds (if using).

2. Blend until smooth and transfer into two tall glasses. We love our Blendtec blender. It’s incredibly powerful and blends to perfection. If your blender doesn’t blend frozen fruit well, you might consider lightly thawing your pineapple before adding it.

Green Smoothie Recipe-2

Our favorite Green Smoothie Recipe. It's a green power smoothie is what it is! @natashaskitchen

We always like to have at least one frozen fruit in this smoothie to make it chilled and thicken it up a little. Frozen pineapple is inexpensive and we always keep a jumbo Costco-sized bag of it in the freezer for occasions such as these.

Great recipe! Thank you very much. I was surprised that the calories were so high though, given the ingredients. I put it into myfitnesspal.com and came up with very different numbers (per serving). 193 calories, 4g fat, 40g carbs, 7g fiber, 26g sugar, 3g protien.

Hi Gina, you are absolutely right. I think the calculator was pulling nutrition facts from the canned coconut which has quite a bit more calories rather than the lighter carton coconut milk in the refrigerator section. I updated the nutrition label which is now more accurate. I appreciate the heads up!

    Thanks so much dear Natasha

Hi Suzanne, it depends on the ingredients for each. For example, a banana or orange added will increase the calorie count. I hope you try these soon!

I love green smoothies but never thought to add pineapple, it is a delicious addition! I can’t eat raw oranges so I used orange juice instead of the coconut milk and the orange, it was still amazing! My 3 year old loved it and finished half the recipe and wanted more, he just consumed 4 servings of fruits and veggies for a snack!

Hi Z, I’d probably go with either water, almond milk, coconut milk or orange juice. I guess I’m not a fan of milk in smoothies. The texture gets weird sometimes if you don’t drink it right away.

Hi Sharon, we always make and enjoy these right away since refrigerating smoothies can result in separation and they just aren’t as appealing on day 2. You might consider putting everything in the blender the night before then adding the liquid the next day and whirling it up in the morning.

Hi Jezel, I think it would be really really difficult to try to do this with smoothies and still get all of the nutrients that you need. This is a green smoothie but the amount of fruit is much higher than the amount of vegetables and it’s also lacking in protein. I’m obviously no dietician but I would think it’d be difficult to get a balanced diet via smoothies.

Something very helpful to people who buy the seeds is in preparation. I was going through them quickly because I was using them incorrectly. Here is the correct way: For every tbsp you scoop out you add 1/2 to 3/4 cups of water depending on how thick you like it. I usually do 2 tbsp and 1 cup and 1/2 water. Then you leave the seeds in the water for 30 minutes before ever using them. After using them, store them in a container in the refrigerator. They will become like a jelly like pudding. They will last in the fridge for 2 weeks and you can scoop out tbsps and add them to all kinds of foods to get the health benefits. They don’t have any taste so they blend into everything. Since the 2tbsp grows 12 x because it absorbs the water, it will last a lot longer and you will be getting a great deal more benefit from them. Just sprinkling them doesn’t do much. Just thought I would share.
