Instant Pot Ribs Recipe (VIDEO)
Instant Pot Ribs is the easiest way to achieve tender, juicy ribs. Whether you’re using baby back ribs or pork loin ribs, pressure cooking tenderizes the meat in a fraction of the time so you can enjoy homemade ribs even on busy weeknights.
Our Smoked Ribs take about 7 hours from start to finish and Baked BBQ Ribs take more than 2 1/2 hours, cooked low and slow in the oven. This recipe requires no marinating time and is done in around 45 minutes. P.S. you can even use frozen ribs!

Instant Pot Ribs Recipe:
The ingredients here are simple: ribs (baby back ribs or pork loin ribs), apple juice, cider vinegar, seasoning salt, dry rub and of course bbq sauce. If you’re feeling adventurous, add half a teaspoon of liquid smoke to add that smoked element to your ribs. The instant pot makes the magic happen – amazingly fast with excellent results.
Instant Pots save time and have consistent results for corn on the cob, instant pot boiled eggs and dulce de leche. This Instant Pot Ribs recipe is sure to become a new favorite for you.
What is the Best BBQ Sauce for Ribs?
We love sweet bbq sauce for ribs because it caramelizes on the ribs when they are finished off. If you have a favorite bbq sauce you would recommend, I’d love to hear from you in a comment below. A couple of our family favorites include:
- Stubbs (Sweet and Sticky) – this has good ingredients, is inexpensive and I feel good about consuming it. We keep a steady supply on hand of Stubbs BBQ Sauce.
- Sweet Baby Rays – the flavor is excellent but it does contain high fructose corn syrup.
How to Prepare Baby Back Ribs:
Start by prepping your ribs. Baby Back Ribs and Pork Loin ribs typically already have the silver skin on the meat side trimmed and the membrane on the boney side removed. If they are present, use a small knife to loosen it at the corner and a paper towel to help grip and pull it off of the ribs. You want to remove that so the flavors can penetrate the ribs. If you want a visual, check out this photo tutorial from Weber.
How to Make Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs:
The process for making instant pot ribs is truly easy:
- Rub the ribs with seasoning salt and BBQ Dry Rub.
- Combine apple juice, vinegar, 1/3 cup bbq sauce and liquid smoke (if using) in the instant pot.
- Coil the ribs inside the pot, cover and cook on high pressure 25 minutes followed by a 10-minute natural pressure release.
- Remove ribs, brush with BBQ sauce and broil or grill 5 minutes
To Finish Ribs on the Grill:
Preheat the grill to 350-400˚F. Place the bbq sauce smothered ribs directly on preheated grill, cover, and grill 5 minutes.
To Finish Ribs in the Air Fryer:
Cut rack in half, smother with bbq sauce as usual and place both halves side by side in the air fryer basket for 4 min on high.
What to Serve with Ribs:
These saucy bbq ribs are perfect with just about any side dish. Some of our favorites include:
- Mashed Potatoes – so creamy, they don’t need gravy
- Coleslaw – super easy salad with creamy dressing
- Egg Salad – simple and satisfying
- Avocado Corn Salad – always gets rave reviews
- Soft Dinner Rolls – use leftover rolls and pork to make sliders the next day.
Can I Use Frozen Ribs?
Frozen ribs can be used following the same recipe. Before freezing ribs, cut them into thirds (so they fit into the instant pot later since they won’t be able to coil) and add the dry rub before freezing. Dry rub won’t adhere if you try to put it over frozen ribs.
More (Top Rated) Easy Dinner Recipes:
These easy dinner ideas are perfect for busy weeknights and are so much better (and usually healthier) than going out to eat.
- Chicken Fried Rice – use leftover rib meat to make it!
- Chicken Parmesan – an easy crowd-pleaser
- Philly Cheesesteaks (the real way)
- Beef and Broccoli – better than takeout
- Salisbury Steak – with mushroom gravy

Natasha I love every one of your recipes that I have tried. I tried the rib recipe tonight and it was delicious. Just wondering if next time, I could use maybe half of the apple juice. It seemed like a lot of juice. I also love all of your fun videos. So fun to watch.
Hi Shawna, great to hear that you’ve been enjoying our recipes. I have not tested that to advise but feel free to experiment. We’d love to know how it goes!
What happened to your original recipe? I made your rub from scratch and loved it.
Hi Amie, are you referring to my Smoked Ribs with the Best Glaze recipe possibly?
Hi Nat ! Well I decided on the instant pot ribs. They sound delish and I have never tried making them in the IP so should be interesting because I am not very brave when it comes to using it …..but , I guess if I never use it I won’t get used to it. Anyway , sounds delish..thankyou !!
Hi Lydia! I hope you love this recipe!
I LOVE this recipe!! It was better than the rib restaurant. Than you.
Hi Christine! That’s great to hear.
My family LOVES this recipe and its awesome for weeknights! Add some baked beans, macaroni salad (or potato salad) and cornbread and ready to eat in less than an hour!
That all sounds delicious! I’m so glad you love this recipe. Thank you for sharing.
ok, now that was a great recipe! I have only done ribs once in the InstaPot. The totally fell apart! it was awesome! Another Great Recipe Natasha! Thank you!
Hi Debbie! That’s great. So glad you enjoyed the recipe.
Hi Natasha, love your recipes. I want to try this rib recipe and I didn’t see this mentioned in the reviews. Are these fall off the bone tender? My husband has missing teeth and can only eat ribs if they are almost tender to the point they are easy to shred. I was wondering if I could increase the cooking time to achieve this result. Thank you
Hi Jackie! This recipe makes for tender ribs, but yes, you may increase the cook time if you would like to. I had a few readers mention they cooked them a bit longer by preference.
Love the flavor, but personally like more resistance between the meat and the bone, can I steam the ribs 15 minutes or less to get the same results?
Hi Guy, You are welcome to test that out! If you do, please let me know how you like it!
Hi Natasha. Love your recipes and all the video. You and your husband are very creative. I travel a lot and have to prep meal for the family. What would be the freezing and defrost instructions for this recipe. Is it possible to include freezing instructions for other recipes as well?
Hi Ludmila! Thank you for sharing that. I’m so glad you are loving my recipes. If I have tested freezing a recipe, I will include instructions in the blog post. Some of my recipes have this note, if not, then likely I have not tested it to advise.
For this recipe specific, see my note in the blog above under “Can I Use Frozen Ribs?” This would be helpful for meal prep.
Also- be sure to check the comment section on my recipe. Many of my readers will share their experiment with the recipe if they freeze, defrost, etc. I hope that helps.
I’m never sure whether to leave the rack in the bottom of the pot or not. Can I assume if you do not say to put the rack I don’t put it in ? I’m just starting with using recipes so it isn’t obvious to me. This recipe was delicious.
Hi Angelica! The rack is often times used to elevate food above the liquid. If it has handles, it also serves as a way to help lift your food out of the instant pot. For this recipe, the ribs should all be partially submerged.
I’m glad you loved the recipe! 🙂
I always make applesauce right before I make the ribs and then use the liquid that I drain out of the applesauce to make my ribs. So good and I am using all of the great tasting juice to make one more dish.
Our favorite BBQ or grilling sauce for beef, chicken, or pork chops or for beef ribs or pork ribs is Old Number 7 Jack Daniels honey BBQ grilling sauce. It is awesome!!
Thanks for sharing, Pat! 🙂
I love this recipe and make it often. However, I have a quick question. My ribs this time weigh almost 4 lbs. Do I need to cook them longer in the Instapot? Thank you for all of your recipes!
Hi Debra! I imagine you may need to add a little extra time if it is a larger portion.
Hi Natasha! I am planning on making these tonight, and I have a few questions. First, can you omit the seasoned salt? I bought the rub you recommended and it alone has a lot of sodium. It’s not a dietary concern, but sometimes I think things are overly salty. Lastly, can we finish these off in the broiler instead of the grill or air fryer? If so, how long would you recommend cooking them and should I place them on a tray with a rack? Thank you in advance! These sound super yummy, and I’m sure they will be! I love every single recipe of yours that I’ve made, and I’ve made A LOT!
Hi Brooke! Yes, you can broil or grill them for 5 minutes the ribs. I think omitting the seasoning salt would be fine if you prefer that. You can season to taste if they need more. I hope you love the recipe! 🙂
Hi Natasha, these were incredible and so easy! I only made two very slight changes. I omitted the seasoning salt because I was afraid it might be too salty for our taste, and I sprinkled a bit of cayenne for some spice on the ribs before adding the BBQ sauce and broiling! I can’t wait to make them again! We served them with your creamy mashed potatoes (best ever!) and your corn, tomato and avocado salad, which is definitely going to be an obsession of mine! All so good! Thank you for sharing!!
Wonderful to hear, Brooke! Thank you for sharing that with us. 🙂
Hi Natasha! First time commenting, but I was already a fan of your sliders recipe. This one for ribs in an instant pot is genius. I used a rub with ginger in it and instead of apple juice I used a ginger pineapple. I did this because I ended up using Japanese banchan bbq sauce and it was so good. Not too sweet and not too tangy. This is such a versatile, forgiving, and most importantly easy recipe. Thank you for sharing! This was a delicious Valentine’s Day meal for my family that I served with baked potatoes and steamed broccoli.
Hi Lily! That sounds amazing, all of it! I’m so glad you loved the recipe. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. 🙂
Can this be done in the oven? Or all done in an air fryer? How else we can we do this without a pressure cooker?
Hi Brittnae! Yes, see paragraph two for the other rib recipes (click on the red font for the link).
Absolutely amazing! My only regret is not trying this recipe earlier. It’s going to be my go to pork ribs recipe from now on. Thank you for sharing!
That’s so great to hear! Thank you, Olga. I’m happy you enjoyed the recipe and found a new favorite.
I also cook them up without putting any BBQ sauce on. Then cool and freeze. When wanting to eat, I put the frozen cooked ribs into the instant pot with 1 1/2 cups water and the rack. Pressure cook 15 min and slather with sauce. Quick and delicious! 5 min under broiler to carmelize or just warm up BBQ sauce.
Can I make them in a regular tray without the oven rack if I don’t have one?
Hi, we prefer the air to circulate around the ribs so it dries out the edges but you can still put it on a baking sheet without a rack and finish it off that way. That would work.
This is our go to rib recipe. Made no changes and EVERYONE LOVES them, thank you for making ribs so easy and delicious
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Julie!
These were amazing! A great recipe and now my go to for IP Ribs! Quick question: Do you or any others have suggestions for use of the left over liquid after cooking? Or do I just discard it – seems like a lot to throw out, but if it’s not good for future use, I’ll dump it. Thanks!
Hi Matthew, thank you for the great feedback. I usually do not reuse it but let’s see if other readers here have some suggestions.
I am so happy to have found this recipe. I made baby back ribs in my air fryer a month ago, but they weren’t as tender as I’d hoped. Tonight I cooked the ribs in my pressure cooker, per your recipe, and did the finishing in my air fryer. The pork spareribs I had were too tall to stand up in my 6 qt. PC, so I just cut 2 slabs and laid them in the pot, easy peasy. This is such an easy recipe, and the ribs come out so juicy and tender, it kinda makes me glad I don’t own a grill!
So glad you enjoyed this, Carol! Thanks for sharing.
NATASHA I HAVE A 3 QT INTANT POT. ENOUGH FOR TWO PEOPLE. MY QUESTION ON THE RIBS DO YOU THINK I NEED TO CUT ALL INGREGENTS IN HALF. WILL USE SMALL SIZE OF RIBS. THEN SHOULD I ADJUST THE COOKING TIME TO LESS THAN 25 MIN, FOR COOK? USE SAME RELEASE TIME OF 10 MIN. THANKS
Hi Judy, you can use the serving size slider on the recipe to help with your adjustments. Adjust the slider to get the meat weight down to what you have and use that. Regarding time, I haven’t tried it with less or in a smaller pot, so it’s hard or me to advise. I hope it all works out for you!
The ribs were so easy to make and delicious. This will definitely be my go to recipe for ribs. I really enjoy your videos.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Diane!
Was easy, but a bit sweet,,,will make again but use bit less apple juice and bit more salt with my rub
Sounds good and yes, feel free to modify the sweetness according to your personal preference.
Great ribs! Thank you so much for the recipe. My first instant pot meal and they turned out perfectly 💕
That’s wonderful, Jo! You’re very welcome. 🙂
Can I reuse the same marinating sauce for all 3 slabs of ribs
I think that would be fine.
Hi there! I am curious if I can do the ribs in the ip today, then finish them on Sunday in the oven. If so, is there a specific way I should store them in the fridge?
Hi Debbie, I have not tested that to advise but I think it could work.
We love this recipe in our home! So easy and even easier clean up! I do have a question- could I double the amount of ribs from 3lbs (1rack) to 6lbs (2 racks)? If so, would the amount of the other ingredients stay the same?
Hi Alyssa, I haven’t tested that, but you would probably need a larger instant pot. I would double the rub and keep the liquid amount the same if you find a way to fit them there. I imagine you will need to increase the time by a bit also.
I doubled the amount of ribs in my 6qt instant pot tonight as an experiment. (I used my BIG stove top presto last time I cooked two racks and that thing is a pain to wash) I curled the ribs so one went to the inside of the other and cooked for the recommended time of 25min. I used a little less liquid to avoid going over the max fill line but I doubled the BBQ sauce and obviously I dry rubbed both racks. They came out perfect.
Hi Andrea! Thank you so much for sharing. That’s great to know. 🙂
Saddleback BBQ has some of THEE absolute BEST BBQ sauce!!! You can’t find it everywhere yet but it’s totally worth ordering from their website. Their rubs are also must-haves in our house!
Thank you for sharing that with us, Barbara!
Oh my goodness! This is an amazing recipe and so easy with my new InstantPot. Thank you!
Also praying for Ukraine here in Illinois
Wonderful! Happy to hear that. And thank you.
These look amazing! Can they be finished in the oven on bake instead of broil? I want to make them for Valentine’s day
Hi Missy, we found it best with a broil. If you try the bak method, I’d love to know how you like that!
made these last night, they were delicious, my only problem was when I took them out of the instapot, all the bones fell off the meat! I followed the recipe, it took 25mins to natural release. Any idea of what I did wrong?
Hi Dorothy, you should only be doing a natural pressure release for 10 minutes then manually releasing the remaining pressure. It sounds like it was in the instant pot for too long.
Like usual I do not get leftovers from your recipe’s that I cook and hope to see more instapot ones in the future. The ribs were fantastic!
I’m so glad these were a hit, Jordan! I appreciate the feedback!
Thank you for your great comments and feedback, Andrea. I’m happy to know that you’ve been receiving compliments using my recipe.
Hi Natasha! Every time I am searching for a recipe, your site is the first place I look. My daughter and I made your chocolate chip cookies one night and we sent you a video. We love you and love to try all your recipes. I want to cook the ribs tonight but would it be OK to cook them in a crockpot for several hours? Sorry if you have already answered this question but I looked through the comments and on the website page and couldn’t find the answer. Thank you for all you do and all your hard work. It does not go unnoticed!
Hi Holly! Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I haven’t tried this recipe in a crockpot to advise on the outcome. But you can check out our other ribs recipes here.
I’m gonna try the crock pot on this recipe tonight. I’ll let you know how it goes! Didn’t get a chance to cook it last night. Thank you!
How did the ribs turn out in your Croc Pot? I don’t have an Instant Pot so would like to try.
Hi Natasha… I’m Cherry from the Philippines… i want to try your instant pot ribs but my problem is that some of the ingredients are not available here…like the bbq dry hub and johnny’s seasoning salt..any alternative ingredients i can use.. thanks
Hello Cherry, that’s the same issue that others are experiencing. I recommend checking out the comments below the recipe because others usually share some substitute ingredients that they use.
Substitute for the apple juice?
Hi Cyndi, I haven’t tried a substitute to advise, the apple juice and cider vinegar tenderize and add great flavor.
I didn’t have apple juice so I used water and everyone said it was yummy!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Navie!
I had an orange mango juice on hand so used it diluted with half water, added the acv and these ribs were amazing. The mango flavour stood out pleasantly
Paprika! I like how you say that on your videos.
Great flavor, wonderful recipe, thank you! I made one rack first, put the liquid in the fridge, removed the fat and cooked two more racks the next day in the same liquid plus a bit of extra juice and vinegar (after I put in the ribs in the pot to make sure there was room). The racks were on the large side and I cooked them for 28 min with 10 minutes of natural release. Tender & flavorful, my 7 yo asked for the recipe for when he grows up 😀
Wow, he so adorable! I’m glad this recipe was a hit, thank you for your great comments and review, Cristina!
How much longer should I cook them if there around 4lbs??
Hi Jessica, you can increase the time by a few minutes. One of our readers wrote in saying, “I used 4lb pork spare ribs and it came out of the instant pot perfectly tender and the flavor…. yum yum yum! We had my neighbor and her husband over, and it was a hit.” I hope that helps
Thank you very much for this recipe Natasha. It was delish. I have an 8 quart, I wrapped 2 racks of ribs, and put a small pork loin in the center. It was falling off the bone as others have stated. Had to dip it out with spoons… and the pork loin cooked as well.
Hi Teresa, you are so welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed this recipe!
Can you add 2 rack of ribs at once?
Hi Teresa, I haven’t tested with 2 racks. I think that should work fine but you will need less liquid or it may go above the max fill level with two racks displacing the liquid.
Hi Natasha,
Made these ribs last night. The meat just fell off the bones, so tender and full of flavor.
Jim
The best! I’m so glad you enjoeyd this recipe, Jim!
I made this tonight and it was delicious! My little boy, Zack, loves watching your videos with me, and enjoys helping me cook. After eating his ribs, he said “finger licking good!”. He says, “Hi Natasha!”.
That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great, Jessica! Please say hi back to Zack from me & my family!! I’m so glad he’s enjoying our recipes and videos!
After 25 minutes in the Instant Pot, it was no longer meat. It was mush. The flavor was good, though,
Hi Carol, I haven’t had that experience. I wonder if you left it in to depressurize longer than recommended.
i took it out immediately when the ten minutes were up. The bones fell out of the meat. It’s possible that the ribs were smaller than yours, and required less cooking time. I will try this recipe again. As I mentioned. The flavor was good!
Love these ribs but one rack never seems like enough. Can you do two racks at once?
Hi Judy, I haven’t tested with 2 racks. I think that should work fine but you will need less liquid or it may go above the max fill level with two racks displacing the liquid.
I love this recipe, but it’s never enough. Can you cook more than one rack in the one pot?
Hi Judy, I haven’t tested that, but you would probably need a larger instant pot. I would double the rub and keep the liquid amount the same if you find a way to fit them there. I imagine you will need to increase the time by a bit also.
Natasha Can these be cooked in a crock pot?
Hi Elaine, I haven’t tried this recipe in a crockpot to advise on the outcome. But you can check out our other ribs recipes here.
I love instant pot recipes – would love to see more – thank you for the video
So do we! Thank you so much for sharing that recommendation with me, Jocelyne! I have it down on my to-do list.
Down here we use Sweet Baby Rays. YUMMM.
Yes! Sweet Baby Ray’s is the best!
How about some hints for people who don’t have an InstantPot?
Hi Sylvia, you can check out my Smoked Ribs recipe or Baked BBQ Ribs instead.
We use KINDER’S ROSTED GARLIC BBQ SAUCE
Thank you for sharing that Robert.
literally amazing!!!! bless your soul!!! ill never order ribs at a restaurant again
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
Could you cook more than one rack at a time?
Hi Les, I haven’t tested that, but you would probably need a larger instant pot. I would double the rub and keep the liquid amount the same if you find a way to fit them there. I imagine you will need to increase the time by a bit also.
Would you cook country ribs the same way in an instant pot? I’ve tried and they always come out tender but not cooked right.
Hi Joe, I haven’t tested this method with country-style ribs, but it should work fine. I’m seeing several recipes that call for a longer cook time, though when making country-style instant pot ribs: cook on high pressure for 45 min, followed by a 15-20 min natural pressure release before releasing remaining pressure. Country-style ribs are bigger, meatier, and fattier, so they would need more time. If you test that out, please let me know how it goes!
I made these tonight. The meat just fell off the bone and it was delicious! So much flavor. Thanks so much for the posting the recipe.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Linda! Thank you for the wonderful review!
BEST BBQ RIBS EVER!! Helpful hint: I have made several batches in one day, reusing the same sauce in the pressure cooker. SO EASY!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite!
Hi Natasha, I have made the ribs several times and they are delicious!. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes and tips. I have made many. My question is, is there something I can do with the liquid after I take the ribs out?
Thank you so much!
Hi Debbie, I haven’t experimented with another recipe for the liquid. We discarded it.
Thank you!
Hi Debbie! Our friend left the liquid in the instant pot and then hit the sauté setting and let it cook for 10 minutes and then kept it to use with rice instead of water or chicken broth. Just an idea!
Hi Natasha, Could you provide instructions on how to make this recipe without an instant
pot? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Judie, that would have to be a very different recipe. Check out our other Ribs Recipes here.
might be wrong but i think if you use a crock pot for the recipe as a substitute it would still work just take longer. I might be wrong but you never know :).
Hi Natasha.
Loved your recipe! I’m a new IP user. This was the 3rd thing I made. Although scared to do so, I plunged in and crossed my fingers and it was a hit? My parents loved it. I would like to make them for my sisters birthday. Obviously there would be more people so need to cook 2 racks instead of 1. To avoid having to start cooking earlier and making 1 at a time and risk the 1st one getting cold, may I put 2 racks in the 6 qt? If so, do I need to add any additional liquid or increase the cooking time? Your input is greatly appreciated.
Hi Janet, I haven’t tested that, but you would probably need a larger instant pot. I would double the rub and keep the liquid amount the same if you find a way to fit them there. I imagine you will need to increase the time by a bit also.
Do you think 2 racks would fit in an 8 qt Instapot?
Hi Jane, I haven’t tested with 2 racks. I think that should work fine but you will need less liquid or it may go above the max fill level with two racks displacing the liquid.
I have made 2 racks in an 8 qt. pot, following Natasha’s recipe for one rack, BUT I double the amount of rub and BBQ sauce since you have to brush it on 2 racks of ribs. Don’t increase the liquid; it’s enough for 2 racks. You can increase the pressure cook time by 5 minutes and natural release by 5-10 minutes, but sometimes that makes them fall off the bone as you take them out of the pot. They are DELICIOUS!!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Sandi! I’m so glad you enjoeyd this recipe.
I made this meal this past week and was impressed with how delish it was! Thanks so much for your recipes Natasha! You’re amazing and make the whole cooking process so much fun 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful feedback, Marian. I really appreciate it!
This was the first recipe I made with an instant pot. For those that don’t know. It takes a while for machine to seal, I think 10-20 mins? Plus the additional 25 mins of cooking and natural release… I thought it would seal up fast, within 5 mins and then 25 mins of cooking. Lol
Ribs were tasty, but the smell of the liquid it cooked in wasn’t pleasant. Esp when you open it up and the smell comes out. Smelled like vomit in the house. Maybe better to cook in the garage?
Hi Olga, I’ve never thought it smelled that way, but most instant pot aromas are pretty strong. I like to either put them outside or directly under the range hood set over a cutting board (just be careful not to turn on the stove!). I avoid putting it in the garage as sometimes the furnace can pull air into it from the garage and the house will end up smelling that way anyway.
I love your videos so easy to follow and taste so good. I just got an instant pot for xmas but still unsure how to use but I’m going to try your ribs this weekend hope it turns out
Thank you, Tina. Please share with us how it goes. I hope that you will love every recipe that you will try.
Natasha – so excited to try this recipe….(we loved your whole chicken in the Instant Pot…simply delicious)….BUT – my oven just went out, and we are out of propane for our grill. Do we HAVE to finish them that way, or can we just eat them as is, once they come out of the pot?
Hi Laura, I like to bake because they don’t look as appetizing or yummy coming right out of the instant pot. They are edible and taste great for sure. You can also put them in an air fryer or toaster oven if that is an option. It also helps to caramelize the bbq sauce to create a nice crust.
Hi Natasha! I made these tonight and they were excellent!! They literally fell off the bone when I tried to transfer them to the rack to put them in the oven. I basically had to brush the pieces. Lol so delicious 😋 I made your Brussel sprouts and scallop potatoes with it! Sooo good! 2 big thumbs up 👍🏻 👍🏻
I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you for sharing your great review, Shannon!
I tried the instant pot ribs recipe on Christmas Eve. It came out so good and delicious! My family loved it! Thank you and Happy New Year.
I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you for sharing your great review & Happy New Year!
Hello Natasha!!! LOVE your recipes and your video production is flawless!! I want to ask if using a larger rack of ribs (mine is 4.13 lbs) do we need to increase the cook time? Thank you!
Hi Angela, one of our readers wrote in saying, “I used 4lb pork spare ribs and it came out of the instant pot perfectly tender and the flavor…. yum yum yum! We had my neighbor and her husband over, and it was a hit.” I hope that helps
I made this twice now and my family love it!! I want to use your homemade rub on them next time. Thank you for your recipes keep them coming. Especially the instant pot ones with the videos.
I’m happy to hear that you and your family love this recipe. Thank you for sharing!
What kind of recipe uses bottle of this and made up rubs…
May as well just say buy it in a shop…
I love most of your recipes, not this one… Where in Scotland are we to buy these made ingredients.
Hi Natasha
I want to make these ribs tomorrow but I have two racks of ribs. Can they both be cooked together?
Thanks
Hi, if you can make them fit in your instant pot, it will work.
They’re delicious regardless. Please try to be more kind.
These are great. Any recommendations as an apple juice substitute? I want to make these today but don’t have apple juice!
Hi Jenn, I haven’t tried a substitute to advise, the apple juice and cider vinegar tenderize and add great flavor.
I will be cooking this for Christmas night dinner! I am excited!
I hope you love this recipe!
Delicious!!! I used 4lb pork spare ribs and it came out of the instant pot perfectly tender and the flavor…. yum yum yum! We had my neighbor and her husband over and it was a hit.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review!
It was a little dry but it had good flavor.
Hello Mary, could it be because of the ribs that you used? So far the comments didn’t mention the ribs being a bit dry but let us know how it goes the next time you make it again. I hope it becomes better!
Making these tomorrow, wondering what to do with all the left over liquid.
Hi Eileen, we discarded it.
I usually love all of your recipes but this one not so much. Could not transfer cooked ribs from instapot when done because all the meat fell off of the bone. Had to scoop out with a spoon. Maybe 3lbs should not be cooked for 25 minutes…???
Hi Sharon, I’m so glad you enjoy our recipes. We didn’t have that issue but I am always happy to help troubleshoot – make sure to only let it do a natural pressure release for 10 minutes before manually releasing pressure. Also, a different sized instant pot might need some adjustment in timing.
What size instant pot was used? I didn’t see any mention of that. I would know if adjustment would be required (as per comment above) if size was referenced.
Thanks.
Hi Priscilla, the Instant Pot we used can be found in our Amazon Shop HERE. It is the 6-quart pot.
Hi Natasha,
I can’t wait to try this recipe but I have one concern. My children do not eat spicy foods but they love ribs. Is the dry rub spicy? If so, is there another brand you recommend? What about the BBQ sauce? Thank you for reply.
Hi Ana, it was really pretty mild – I would just recommend using a sweeter (not spicy) bbq sauce to rub on at the end.
Can I cook the ribs the night before then grill them the next day?? Going camping and just wondering TGIF that would work, thanks!!
Hi Jane, I think that would work well as a make-ahead option for a camping meal. I hope you have a great time on your camping trip!
How do you think pineapple juice would work instead of apple? I am making right now as the recipe goes so I can’t rate yet…just was wondering about the pineapple juice.
Hello Sharon, I have not tried that yet to advise. I think it’s worth trying, please let us know how it goes if you do an experiment.
Hi Natasha,
I really wanna try this recipe but I do not own an instant Pot, can I use a pressure cooker or can you tell me how best to do this without and instant pot.. please explain.. Love your recipes.. thank you..
Hi Tameka, an instant pot is essentially the same as a pressure cooker. Once your pressure cooker gets to pressure, follow the recipe as directed and the usage instructions on your specific machine for safety ofcourse.
Hi Natasha,
Is there anything I can replace the apple juice with in your recipe. I am sure it is amazing but too much sugar.
Thanks!
Hi Laura, I haven’t tried a substitute to advise, the apple juice and cider vinegar tenderize and add great flavor.
You could try a no sugar added apple juuce or possibly dilute it down with water (3 cups apple 3 c water)
I love mango habanero bbq sauce.
I don’t have an instant pot
Would you recommend just boiling in the apple juice for longer
Or a different recipe all together
Thanks
Hi Paulette, I would go with a different non-instant pot recipe since there would be significant changes needed.

You are very welcome, Kim. Thank for your excellent review!
Natasha, do you think you could use beef or chicken broth instead of the apple juice? I am just wondering about the sugar in the apple juice (I’m on a keto diet) I Love watching all of your videos, and your recipes are so AWESOME! My family loves the food Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Jeannie, I haven’t tried a substitute to advise, the apple juice and cider vinegar tenderize and add great flavor.
Can I use pineapple juice instead? thank you.
Hi Michelle, I haven’t tried that yet to advise. You might need to do an experiment, if you try it, please share with us how it goes.
Why is a o much liquid needed?
Hi Rosa, the Instant Pot has a minimum requirement for liquid.
I like the recipe, but have some thoughts about the concerns some users had related to sugar. I’m also on a low carb/sugar/ keto diet. Most Instant Pot recipes for the six quart pot call for at least 1-2 cups liquid. I bought organic apple juice made from Honey Crisp apples. My ribs had a strong apple juice flavor that seemed to overpower the pork flavor. I’m thinking it may be due to the ribs being more than halfway immersed in the liquid. This had a boiling effect. For those concerned about sugar, perhaps using a trivet would yield tender, juicy ribs with a little less absorption of the juice. I would make sure I have enough liquid, but less juice with sugar. I like your suggestion of using some water. Another option might be to use part chicken broth and apple juice. Do these options make sense?
This recipe was amazing!! I usually don’t right reviews but I was extremely impressed with these. Fell off the bone and delicious flavor!
Thank you so much for your excellent review, we appreciate it!
Natasha, I am so happy I stumbled upon your recipe! I cooked these the other day for my parents and they loved it. My father is huge on smoking ribs and I was afraid he wasn’t going to like these at all. He was so surprised how easy, delicious, and tender they were. We will definitely be making it this way from now on!
I also saw your previous comment on someone’s post about adding another 10 minutes for another rack of ribs. I will definitely be doing this because the one rack of ribs did not last us very long!
Thank you so much
You’re welcome, Samantha! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe!
I read the recipe this morning, made them for lunch for seven family members. Everyone loved them, my mom said “These are the best ribs I’ve ever had”. This is the 2nd thing I have made in my Instant Pot. Twenty-five minutes on pressure cook, then I selected cancel, to allow depressurizing to start right away. Ten minutes later, used minimal BBQ sauce and poured Soy Vey Veri Veri Teriyaki Sauce over them, and finished them under the broiler.
I love it! It makes me so glad to read your good comments, thank you so much for sharing Ginny!
